Château Picque Caillou, 2016 White

Viniféra by Jacques Perrin

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 White
The wine shows a pleasant liveliness underpinned by a structure on the palate that lacks a little depth but shows attractive fruit flavour.

James Suckling - Rating : 90-91 Points

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
Firm and silky with polished tannins. Medium body and lots of mineral and dark-fruit character. Very well done.

Decanter - Rating : 91 Points

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
One of those properties that has been quietly putting out excellent quality vintages for the past few years, and they do not drop the pace here. It is a little on the closed side right now, but the grilled black fruits and raspberry and charcoal-tinged minerality is clear. This is going to provide some excellent medium term drinking. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, aged for 12 months in 30% new oak. – JA

« Le Point » by Jacques Dupont - Rating : 14.5-15/20

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
Red berry fruits, smooth on the palate, fresh, good fruit favour, nice length, finesse. Will be ready to enjoy as from 2019 and will keep for 15 years.

Weinwisser - Rating : 17/20 - Consume : 2023-2035

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
Production: 96,000 bottles. A dense, purple hue with a garnet-red rim. An aromatic nose of forest fruit with hints of violets, blackcurrant and dark Brazilian tobacco coming through. With good body on the mid-palate, the wine has reserves and good length as well as finesse and an easy-drinking appeal. Black pepper and plum peel in the finish. Will cellar well. A return to the classic style!

Schweizerische Weinzeitung - Rating : 18/20 - Consume : 2023-2040

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
A suave, full and intensely aromatic nose; blueberries, blackcurrants, tobacco and fine mocha. Well balanced, silky and dense on the palate; intense fruit with lots of fine tannins and layers of flavour; an elegant structure with a long, flavoursome finish.

Gault et Millau - Rating : 16-17/20

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
Blackcurrants, blackcurrant leaves. Tannic and dense on the palate with movement and delicious appeal.

Terre de vins - Rating : 16/20

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
Like fruit jelly on the palate with lots of freshness and showing no intention of extraction at all costs. The result is a clean, precise, efficient wine.

Vinifera by Jacques Perrin

Château Picque Caillou, 2016 Red
With aromas of macerated fruit, this is a smooth-bodied, balanced wine that lacks a little precision at the present stage. A pleasant fruity finish.
