Château Picque Caillou, 2020 White
This is an excellent sample from Picque Caillou with cream, lemon-rind, green-apple and mineral aromas and flavors. Nice phenolics and tension. Impressive.

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 White
A lively nose of freshly-pressed lemon juice, wild herbs and mandarin zest. A succulent palate with balance and breed and superb body. A wide range of fruit flavours coming through in the finish, such as citrus fruits, together with notes of wax.

James Suckling rating: 92-93 Pts

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 Red
Very pretty purple fruit with dried flowers and crushed stones. It's medium-bodied with polished tannins and a fruity finish. Fresh, too.

Terre de Vins rating: 90 Pts

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 Red
Today with a discreet nose of red berry fruits (redcurrants), this wine is showing a tight-knit tannic texture, without any aggressiveness, which gives it a certain density. The palate remains round and fluid, again revealing red berry fruits, and finishes with a fine bitter touch of grapefruit.

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 Red
A nose of fresh blackcurrants and intense aromas of violets and elderberry jelly against a backdrop of chocolate and aromatic pipe tobacco. An elegant, soft-textured palate, with wonderful body and a close-knit tannic structure. A wine with perfect balance and breed. An explosive finish with blue fruit berries and stylish cassis coming through with graphite notes and gentle astringency. Bravo Paulin Calvet, this brings back memories of the 2010.

Wine Advocate rating: 90-92 Pts

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 Red
Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Picque-Caillou shoots from the glass with a very focused and pure perfume of black cherries, fresh blackberries and lilacs, followed by hints of tapenade, garrigue and tilled soil. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers great intensity and freshness, delivering loads of crunchy black fruit and a fine-grained texture, finishing long and lively.

Jeb Dunnuck rating: 90-92 Pts

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 Red
Lifted blue fruits, violets, Christmas spice, and some chocolate nuances emerge from the 2020 Château Picque Caillou, a medium to full-bodied, up-front, seamless, and beautifully balanced Pessac-Léognan. Despite plenty of up-front fruit, it also has solid underlying structure as well as ripe, polished tannins. It’s another beautiful wine from this appellation that should drink well in its youth also evolve gracefully.

Revue des vins de France rating: 91-92 Pts

Château Picque Caillou, 2020 Red
The wine shows depth of character, a warm restrained sensation, a hint of menthol, a touch of stiffness in the structure but clear distinction, and a lingering mouthfeel and persistence of flavour, all in a very classical mode. This growth produced within the town of Mérignac itself has shown a confidence of style over the last vintages. The white wine shows the same consistency.
